So I am trying to get all my ducks in a row. Harrison and I are flying solo to Texas next week and I'm so excited and anxious at the same time. Excited to see my family (practically all of them live there) and anxious about my flight there...1 1/2 hours to Pheonix- plane change- then another 2 hours to Austin. I have my Cadillac of a stroller and car seat that I plan on checking at the gate, so I can attach all my gear to that. I will probably look like one of those bums in SF with their overloaded shopping carts about to mow people over when I'm trying to get to my next gate! So once I live through getting us there, I now have to handle a squirmy, bouncy 7 month old on our flight! I'm praying it's not a full flight so I can put him in his car seat next to me, if not... I have to hold him in my lap the whole time. Eeek! But, I have an awesome neighbor who is letting me borrow her portable DVD player and I'm going to record a few of Harrison's favorite little shows from BabyFirst TV to watch if he starts fussing from being in one spot for too long. LOVE HER! It will come in handy to our 3 hour drive to the coast too! We will be spending a week in Rockport, TX and going to South Padre Island for Harrison's first trip to the ocean!
So I'm making lists, checking them twice...gonna find out who's naughty....no, wait. Hah! My lists are: What I need to bring on plane, Whats going in my checked luggage, My stuff, Harrison's stuff, What I need to get before I go, What I need to get when I get there and lastly a Grocery shopping list for food and snacks for Ryan while I'm gone. That list contains a lot of cereal, snacks, mac n cheese. He will starve if I don't get easy things to make/eat. Lord help him stay alive while I'm gone. I almost need to get a house sitter to take care of the house and make meals for him while I'm gone, but instead of "Hey, can you watch my house, get my mail and feed my dog?" It's "Hey, can you watch my house, get my mail and feed my husband?" He has a set of lists himself while I'm gone.
So I'm also debating whether or not to bring my laptop with me. I want to be able to blog and check my Etsy store, FB, etc. But I have a feeling I will have 12 pulled muscles by the time I land in Austin trying to carry all my electronics and their chargers. So I might bum a computer off my little brother. We'll see how good he is at sharing since he's pretty much growing up an only child. And my phone is adequate enough for email. It's not like I'm selling my burpies and tree branch mobiles like crazy... sad face. In due time I suppose.
I'm waiting for my Super Mom Powers to kick in. I suppose in the last couple of days before we leave, I'll get my ducks in line...hopefully with enough time left for me to squeeze in a pedicure! Wish me luck!
