Super Mom... is exhausted...

I have arrived safely in Texas. I am at my parents house in a well air conditioned room, thank God because it's 11pm here and 90 degrees outside! Can we say heat wave?
So, I left you in my last post with my anxiety about flying solo with Harrison. Anxiety doesn't suit me well. It kicks my OCD into overdrive and lowers my immune system. Therefore making it easy for my body to be assaulted by viruses! I for sure got a cold.

Here we go... it's Tuesday morning... (Happy 7 months Harrison!) and I wake up with one nostril completely clogged and my head feeling funny. GREAT! Just when I need to be my sharpest, I am all head cloudy. I push on... we load the car, and are off on time. We get to the air port, kisses to the husband, he loads my second largest suitcase on top of the largest for me then wishes me luck. I drag both suitcases behind me, while pushing my Cadillac of a stroller/car seat in front of me. the stroller has my carry on tote, my purse, diaper bag and baby. I wait in a long line to check my bags, prove my 7 month old is under two years old and got my boarding passes. Now off to the security check...great. I look and notice a family line, oh yay I thought! Pep talk for myself while I'm going through the actions... "Okay Audrey, you've got this... you're a super mom, no problem... bins, shoes off, diaper bag in one, already mixed the formula, meds in a plastic bag out for them to see, my purse, electronics out, baby out of car seat, car seat on conveyor belt, okay... I'm good!" Or so I thought... I was already to go through the metal detector when the lady says, " You've got to put your stroller up on the conveyor belt. Fold it down and put it up there." I looked at her like she was nuts...one, it's a huge stroller, even compact and there was no way it was going to fit in the conveyor belt secondly... how in the hell was I suppose to do that while HOLDING MY BABY!? So I said, "It won't fit up there." She says, "Yes it will. Put it up there." She can clearly see I'm holding my baby. Mind you, my head isn't the clearest at this point due to my cold and I'm kind of in shock at what she's asking me to do, so I just stare at her. Finally, after a minute, another lady that is working, comes over and so nicely says, "Not to worry! I will help you, go on through, I'll get you your stroller in a minute." Thank the heavens! I mean, come on now... this is a family line and there are moms doing this by themselves... They should have family friendly employees working the FAMILY line!

Onward, after that, things were pretty smooth sailing even though I felt like I was sweating buckets. On our first flight there was "no extra seating" so I sat next to another mom with a 6 month old baby. Apparently, there was one extra seat because no one wanted to sit next to us. So we had the middle seat as a buffer for our squirmy babies. Her little girl was named Wren, and was so cute! Chunky monkey legs! Harrison loved to stare at her. He slept a little and then played with his toys and when we landed, looked out the window as pleased as he could be. For the second flight, I was able to bring his car seat aboard and he fell asleep as soon as I buckled him in and didn't wake up at all with take off, landing or getting off the plane. He woke up when we were in baggage. Solid 2 1/2 hour nap! Yes! The guy I was sitting next to said I had the best baby ever! I do.

So I'm here, trying to get over this cold, feeling better every day. Today I had a margarita and a half...strong drinks. Hey, if your not going to do it right, go home... I'm in Texas and they do it right. I was buzzed, borderline intoxicated. But most of all, relaxed and I finally was enjoying myself a little. I think I deserve this vacation, because it's all business when I return home.

I'm looking forward to sharing more with you. Until next time... :)
